im not saying that theyd fuse for chakra reasons. Im saying that if they wanted to attempt the genjutsu on Sasuke theyd probably need to be close to him so that he can hear their song. The bet way for them to get close is to be fused with Naruto who is fast and a mid-short range fighter.

no they dont need to be fused, but in a high scale battle like this I think theyd fuse to that they can stay close and safer.
