In the first anime Envy is confirmed to be male for reasons that would give spoilers. In the manga/Brotherhood though it's pretty ambiguous, I think I even recall the wiki referring to Envy as an "it" so who knows. Envy might just be genderless.

Yeah that was a really good one. I remember it being powerful in the manga but admittedly I think it struck me even more so in Brotherhood. The way the anime has it all in sound and motion just makes it all the more intense and it really shows Ed's determination.

I read a good chunk of the manga (behind on it now though) and it's pretty awesome. It really reminds me of One Piece, similar style but not quite as amazing. Toriko is a lot simpler in the long run but it's still quite a fun series.
