So the healthbpool remain generic essentially and then the different types of damage will apply their corresponding damage to that singular health pool

Does that make sense?

So 40 spiritual damage just does 40 damage period and they succumb to spiritual drawbacks instead of physical ?

Pretty much yeah, once your health pool hits 0 your dead, regardless if its physical, spiritual or a combination of both
