you couldn't be more wrong on this if you tried. There were automatics & semi automatics that were made during or before the American Revolution like the Puckel gun and at least some of the Founding Fathers were avid gun fans, so they were aware that advancements in gun technology could be made...

it was definitely a calculated move to influence the election, but it's ultimately the kind of chaos that is to be expected when countries have lax immigration laws.
