Since we saw that Naruto's Sage mode rasengan shocked Obito like finding a cockroach in his sammich...I think that Madara's 'trump card' that he claims to have is a Sage mode. It's reasonable to conclude that he has been alive long enough to learn one, and master it - and with all of his skills...
