Gaara and Sasuke at a stalemate

To be honest, Gaara has no way of beating Sasuke. Sasuke's defense is on par with Gaara's. And plus, Sasuke's offense is also quite powerful. But also, Sasuke has no way of beating Gaara. Gaara is too strong to be defeated by Sasuke. Mostly because of Gaara's shield. It is quicker than Amaterasu, and you all have no choice but to agree. If Amaterasu couldn't get pass Gaara's sand, then the only thing Sasuke has to to rely on to defeat Gaara is Susano'o. Which Gaara has proved to be able to pull even Madara out of, and it makes Sasuke vulnerable. But Sasuke isn't that foolish to fall for it. Sasuke would find a way around it.

Point is, they'd both run out of chakra. Sasuke just doesn't have a lot of chakra at all, and he'd put up a tough enough fight to make Gaara run out.

That's false. Gaara has proven that he cAn make a desert wherever he is. For proof refer to the kimimaro fight in part 1.


O/t - a thread like this was made about a month ago which had some solid debating on it. Its probably worth a look if you can find it - every potential counter was countered haha.

When it comes down to it the only real threat is sasuke's susanoo arrows. But given that gaara blocked Edo madaras magatamas I don't think it's a problem. I give the slight edge to gaara.

He can however hide himself from vision with his complete sand sheild and then use his third eye for vision. That way he would be safe from Amaterasu. Your way he would die.

Sasuke used Amaterasu against Gaara and Gaara still shielded himself. I think you didn't really watch the episode.

I have to side with sasuke on this one. Gaara's defense is actually not as absolute as sasuke's it was said in the manga. If Sasuke sticks with his amaterasu gaara won't be able to block it, since it's nearly instant. However even if Gaara's sand is able to counter amaterasu with his absolute defense because the sand senses the pressure caused by amaterasu, sasuke can just use enton, since it is instant Gaara really has no way to block it, except retreat into a sand shield and observe with the third eye jutsu. However, he probably won't be fast enough to stop sasuke going into susanoo, and that ball of amaterasu, arrows, and sword are far too powerful to be stopped with gaara's sand, it can't even stand up to a chidori.
