I think it's worth mentioning that Lee just cut Madara in half with a kick.
But it's hard to argue that kishi is not a fan of birthrights. But it kind of seems that EVERYONE in Naruto is born with something special, doesn't it?
Maybe that's what kishi is trying to show. That everyone is special in their own way, and you need to work hard to become great?
