My question sounds simple the less you think about it.

Is it better to die on your feet rather than live on your knees, OR is it better to live on your feet rather than die on your knees.

I know it sounds somewhat confusing, but bear with me.
1. Dying on your feet: it could mean that you died a hero, or a martyr..
2. Living on your knees could mean you are a coward, or on the other hand a slave to a will not your own.
3. Living on your feet could also render you a coward, ran from a fight per say but it could also mean that you were smart enough not to fight in the first place.
4. Dying on your knees, this one took me a minute, it could mean that you were a pawn, a sacrificial peice on the board that served its purpose.

I think most people fight into one of these four categories, but do the characters of Naruto also fit into them? Also, which category would you like to fit into?

Thank you for reading if you did..

Well most people in Naruto dies on feet then :)

Die as hero, being remembered would not be wrong.

EDIT: When I think about die as a hero I don't mean by fighting. More likely save another person's life.

I choose option 3.

I'd pick option 1.

I'd love to die in some glorious and honorable way, but sadly I doubt that will happen.
Old age in a hospital bed is far from the heroic exit I was hoping for.

@TheOfficialSabuto: It's really what you do during your lifetime that matters. I know that contradicts what Jaraiya boy says, but that's just me.

Everyone would love to die on their feet, but I think most of us will live on our feet.

I'll die on my feet with my boots on and my pants down. Just like my grandfather did and his daddy before him and his daddy before him. AMERICA.

Mhm, I also prefer die on feet, but:
People in real life that live on their "knees" or on a wheelchair have their own way. I think it also means that they never want to give up.
damn, I'm drunken.
