Why do so many people hate or underrate Minato?

I've been wondering why so many people in the base hate or underrate Minato?

I have a couple of guesses. Reply with yours.

My takes:
1. People don't really hate Minato just his fanboys and girls.

2. Minato is too powerful for their favorite character and have to justify how their characters can beat Minato.

3. Minato is overrated.

My take on Minato. I consider Minato in the top 10 due to his speed, space-time ninjutsu, sealing techniques, intelligence, and how calm he was in his fights which allowed him to analyze his oponents' strengths and weaknesses. Also, even though many folks hate the Rasengan, it doesn't take away the fact that he invented the strongest or highest level of chakra shape manipulation technique. I also believe that if anyone can one shot anybody, it would be Minato and for many opponents, in order to beat Minato, would have to begin the fight with their strongest techniques already activated. This doesn't take away the fact that he can still be defeated.

Anyways, what are your reasons why many people hate or love Minato?

its simple , people hate the fact that he is a BOSS,,,people hate what they fear.. IJS...he didnt buy the title of hokage, he earned the damn thing

Totally agree with your points. He was a cool character. I wish Kishi would have shown us more of his techniques.

Firstly some people do it simply to piss off fanboys/fangirls.

Some people don't like the fact the majority of his strength and game revolves around one technique: FTG

Those are the only reasons I see!

The fact he has no stats in the data book less I'm mistaken lead ppl to think he has a weakness against genjutsu or that he isn't all that fast ext

Frst off Minato can beat just about anybodies favorite shinobi...He is just that good. I agree with all you points, and for the most part he is already so overpowered that Kishimoto sensei had to restrict his character from being Edo tensei or revived during the battle of Orochimaru and 3rd hokage, There is a reason for everything and the fact that just about every ninja we have seen since before narutos birth is being revived in the series, (All except the ninja who used the Death Reaper seal) definitely explains alot about why ther are not being brought back...For now at least. I mean, imagine if naruto had to come to the battlefield and face every hokage except for Tsunade and including Minato... He would probably finish off the first second and third with some effort, But to face his own father and try to surpass him is a feat totally unheard of...and Right now naruto is probably in the top five strongest living Shinobi surpassing basically his whole village in the matter of months or years....People I think hate Minato for the simple fact that he is really the best of the best, People also love him for that same reason, so it can really go both ways, Plus he lives inside od naruto, so who know what Naruto may bring to the table towards the end...

I like many characters in the series and Minato is one of my favorites. I thing FTG is bad a$$. Especially his level 2 FTG. I believe that if the oponent don't know his techique, Minato can take an enemy out with his first blow. Also, I find it impressive how A mentioned that he fought Minato many times and was not able to beat him. I'm guesing that everytime Minato fought A, the Raikage had B with him whcih could explain why Minato didn't killed A.

You have a great point. I also believe that's why Kishi didn't revive him with Edo and why the third was more concerned about Minato than the 1st and 2nd Hokages. I actually believe this is the same reason why Kishi made it imposible to revive Jiraya and the third. I think if Minato, Jiraya, and Sarutobi would have been revived, the allied shinobi Army would have been destroyed by now.

I wouldn't call myself a fanboy since that term is derogatory in all itself, but I guess I would consider Minato my favourite character. I mean it's close between him, Itachi, Nagato, Kushina and Naruto (Yes that many ) but he comes out on top for me. I like his humility towards everyone and his drive to improve (Which is further channeled through to Naruto and his motto's). He is a very original Shinobi, doesn't stem from a powerful clan so he didn't inherit some Kekkai Genkai or otherworldly powers. It was down to his raw talent and expertise. I could go on all day about it.

I still hope before the series ends, somehow, someway, him and Kushina will be revived and be with Naruto so I can happily head canon a beautiful future.
