before all the filler started, the kages battlefield was yellow, and muu left footprints, implying that it was sand.
now its green, and no footprints are left.

One thing to note is that they spent the day in a constant retreat....this slowly pushed them probably to the desert's edge which seems to be rather rocky and then some vegitation maybee where the division is (I didn't notice green)

Haven't seen the episode yet so im not sure where its up to - but Gaaras division was making a backwards retreat for a while. But the actual kage vs Gaara fight should happen in a desert so im confused. Will have to watch the ep.

It is a desert but not a great amount of sand, gaara and his dad change that, you will see with today's episode
