similar shit like this happens in the UK yes that's not the point here the point is these cops jumped to a conclusion that man who was convulsing was a drunk driver who was resisting arrest and procedure to assault him it just shows their ignorance
That is what theyre trained to do. Their biggest concern is the safety of themselves and surrounding people. Him having a diabetic seizure was probably the last thing on their minds when it looks like the guy is driving off in the middle of an arrest. Once again, yes the kick to the head was extremely uncalled for and should not have happened. Everything else was procedure. You generalizing our population off of whatever it is youre choosing to use as your basis is no different from racism which is the biggest example of ignorance there is.

it's safe to say most Americans follow the shoot now ask questions later philosophy and incidents like this have happened all over the US in fact a few weeks in the state of Washington where i live( don't ask why i live there it's a long story) a man died due to a asthma attacked when he was being pulled over by the police and the cops were more keened on pepper spraying him then actually getting him his inhaler

So once again, due to the action of cops who are trained to protect themselves first in all situations, you are going to make a generalization about the entire population of the US? Very rational.

If you want to understand a country look at its police. Seriously. When people go to experience a culture and get to know a country i dont think the police station is the first stop on the trip. Thats just stupid. And i dont know how you know people in normal society that exhibit this "shoot first ask questions later" mentality that all Americans supposedly possess according to you. What scenario even exhibits that trait that you could be so familiar with? Maybe its just Washington, because out of all 13 states i have been to, ive never seen much like that. I suppose Britain is heaven on Earth where everybody is a bunch of little angels?

i wouldn't say it's perfect but we are more level headed in stressful situations and can act accordingly without giving a diabetic a concussion

Why are you arguing this the cops were clearly wrong in the situation after they pulled him out of the vehicle. Once they had him restrained everything else they did was not "procedure" it was police brutality and you cant glorify it

I really dont know how hard it will be to get through your head that what took place there is what theyre trained to do. Im sure the procedures they take have saved many more lives than it has hurt. I highly doubt your train of thought if you had been in their position wouldve been that the guy was going through a seizure. Especially when he began to drive off again, putting innocent lives including his own in danger. They took the necessary actions. Minus the kicks to the head of course.

I clearly stated in my above comments that the head kicking was clearly wrong. Everything up to that was following procedure. Im mainly attempting to argue his incredibly ignorant statements about the country as a whole.

i highly doubt those guys were at the top of the academy and i highly doubt your train a thought if you think what they did was justified and if i was in that situation i would realize something is wrong with the driver while my gun is drawn an alert medical personnel to the scene

This ^^ and besides it is pretty easy to distinguish a diabetic in shock from a drunken person if you just take a look at him/her.

Well i get where he's comming from seeing as american police can cause more harm than good in small situations. Hell, i live in canada and the police here are even brutal. (iv'e had a friend who got his chin fractured during that G20 summit, he didnt even do anything he was a peaceful protester).

Yeah, im sure youd be the genius when all 6 plus of them missed it being right there with the guy. They thought he was intoxicated. His seizure may have only cemented that in their minds if they think they are apprehending a drunken driver. For the last time, everything they did is what they are trained to do. When they see that he starts to drive off again, they have to keep in mind that that man driving puts other lives including their own in danger. There is nothing wrong with what they did up until the head kicking.

Exactly. I wasnt covering for them in their brutality. Cops everywhere can be brutal. It depends on the personality of the cop himself. Ive heard similar stories as well. I dont like the cops but theyre clearly doing what was necessary in that situation up until the head kicking, obviously.

him having a seizure causes his foot to hit the gas and he's a drunk driver trying to take off?

sound logic brought to you by the beautiful minds of the Las Vegas police department

THEY DIDNT KNOW HE WAS HAVING A SEIZURE FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST. Im sure if they knew that things would have been taken drastically different. They obviously had no idea he was having one and assumed he was intoxicated. This isnt a difficult thing to understand.

I cant reason with you. He was exhibiting clear signs of being intoxicated. Thats what anybody would think. They then took the appropriate action to the situation. Spotting medical conditions right off the bat of an arrest is not something most people let alone cops making an arrest are capable of doing. They are expecting nothing more than a drunken driver. He accidentally attempts to drive off, which starts the rest of what happened. Most people wouldve done the same thing in that position. You cant look at someone and tell they have diabetes.
