It's no really, eu is still the largest single market (despite the crisis and once it ends there itll hit another part of the world), us is still the most powerful country and has the most powerful military, not to mention NATO and Europe and NA are still the dominant culture exporters, Brussels as the ''capital" of the largest market has an enormous influence over regulations of all who want to export there, English is still the world language, western universities are still very desirable London andNY are still the world capitals in a way and the quality of life is much better

I get what you're trying to say but Singapore for instance ''Singapore ranks highest for city infrastructure'' and I've beet there as I've been everywhere else in Europe.. I have European passport ffs:) And you can tell the fall of one and rise of another. How much does it take for those rankings to change as it never happened before.... as if Europe doesn't have dead weight.. Greece/Spain.. who's next? and american economy in all it's ''stability'' and ''glory'' but what will happened when Asia, Russia, India and Africa drops U.S Dollar as worlds currency for good and it's time for U.S to pay they'r bills to China ? ot; NATO is a bit of a joke though... the only country that made it what it is was America and it's military status is questionable could they manage to fight a big war? Didn't European country's made a huge military cut's to save economy?

but I have question to North Kai why is it Russia always the bad guy? when did Russia invaded anyone? have you seen the map? How big Russia is? It's from the European Border to Asian... from Finland to China/Japan... it almost has a border with U.S. They have so much shit to do inside theyr border I bet they don't need to extend anything.. isn't it America who's extending they'r borders in middle east for resources ?

ps. I disslike Russia

True that Singapore is high up but As far as financial powerhouses (cities) are concerned no city is yet close to either NYC or London the closest would be Tokyo but NYC and London still dominate as they are financial centers of Europe and NA

@drknght EU shouldn't brake down as the largest single economy it's combined influence in the world is enormous, the EU is actually a good thing before the 2nd ww Europe was where most of the wars are today the continent is almost pacifist

Many may think the eu is a bit of a joke but most intellectuals support it and it's integration, history showed us that when we are united we can achieve great things but too much national pride, division... Are never good

Many of the younger generations support unity in Europe and the paradigme shift in which we will soon start to regard our selfs as Europeans is already at work, we ofc can **** it all up by going conservative and nationalistic bit I think unity is always better than division

They don't have enough firepower for that. No matter how big a single country is, it's still a single country. And if they had any form of mild success in doing so, the US would try and step in.

It's hard to argue about that but from the point of view of the citizen I wouldn't hassitate moving to Singapore, HK, Tokyo one day. Must live it to understand it. btw how cool is that > Phuket is 56 min away ''flight'' 109$x2 you should know it's a holiday weekends :D

... Started an invasion on the rest of Europe?

Not very likely to happen.

The USSR collapsed back in the 90s, and the Warsaw Pact along with it. Russia didn't have the resources, then, to carry on the nightmare invasion the West feared - and certainly would not have them now.

The greatest threat from Russia, currently, comes in two forms.

First - you have concentrated power blocks that center around the old KGB. You can call them 'industry ministers' if you wish - but they compete with each other and with surrounding influences for economic prestige. It is not inconceivable that they would back interests in China and India through contracts for corporate espionage and sabotage.

Second - the collapse of the USSR left many weapons without oversight and many industries without consistent business and purpose. Russia is the go-to place for clandestine weapon development and contracts for weapons both old and new. They have the experience and the expertise to create weapon systems that would be very expensive and error-prone for other nations.

Otherwise, while some of the old hats in Russia cling to the 'glory days' - a lot of the newer generations have seized the concept of international trade and will begin to usher in a new era for Russia (or so I am led to believe). While the U.S. is embracing socialism and removing the concept of private ownership; Russia will be embracing the free market and growing hand over fist like it's 1920 in the U.S.

Ironic, no?
