I disagree, even though I haven't watched much OP, I know that the theme of pirates is a recurring theme and heavily implied. Like there whole goal is to become the best pirates and reach the Grand line. It can't get more pirate-ee than that.

i feel the same way :| i mean honestly things have gotten to out of hand imo, when was the last time u saw kakashi use handseals to perform his chidori like he did in part 1 -.- ... actually when was the last time we saw someone use handseals properly.. not just 1 or 2... i think the minute susano was revealed the essence of ninja was taken away :/ ... still a good manga/anime but i miss the ninja aspect of it ...

I feel the same way, but I guess they had to because we the fans kept asking for more and more jutsu...handseals lol what are those,explaining how the jutsu is preformed..where is that lol..certain shinobi still maintain their ninja heritage like Shikamaru, Kakashi, and Itachi when he was alive...sai and rock lee still have to go old school the weaker characters still must use gameplanning to win

I aslo find that as the series goes on I now like the thinkers more so than the power guys

I never considered this to be a show about ninjas to begin with. Too many things don't make sense (ridiculous outfits, hair color, non-existent secrecy, rare use of stealth, etc). I just see it as a bunch of people who use the term ninja to describe themselves within their respective universe. Compared to IRL, of course that wouldn't make sense, but it shouldn't matter either.

Yeah I understand where you're coming from becuase when I first started watching I said to my self "Dafuq Is he wearing an orange jump suit" but then they did some ninja stuff like jutsu which are to powerful but used to fool the opponent such as sub jutsu and clone jutsu...then in late part 2 shit got out of hand.still a good manga though.

But anyway, this show is still very Japanese, based on Japanese myths like Susanoo, Six paths etc.

I didn't actually consider them to be really ninjas from what I read. Naruto's TB Powers, Lee's Gates, Gaara's Tailed Beast, Sasuke CS, and animal summons were prominent examples of the series going Ape Shit since Part 1.

I mean sometimes I forget that some characters ninja's for example: madara's dropping meteors,naruto destroying mountains,sasuke spamming amateratsu.the last time I saw someone analyse the situation and come up with a plan to defeat an opponent was minato. Do you agree?

Their appearance has been based on the historical looks, being that they never looked like the stereotype ninja dressed in black jumpsuits.
Their powers, like Madara's, has been based on the old myths about ninja's and other warriors,
and also many Shintoistic and Budhistic mythological creatures..

Like Sarutobi Sasuke who was seen as basicly the Japanese Hercules was a famous ninja, and the myths around him described him as a god-like figure. And I don't have to tell you which characters have been based on him.

Just because they plan and make strategies, doesn't mean they're ninja's. You see planning and tactics in almost every manga.
