Itachi and kisame had good chemistry together and backgrounds suited each other. For me sasuke can't take itachi's place.

I use to love the way itachi was the calm one who would end a guy so simple with his genjutsu and kisame was the hot headed but very wise guy.

They just seemed to go really well with each other
