Yeah there's not all that much you can squeeze out of a short story arc into only 25 episodes though... I do feel like it has the potential to be at least twice as long, without getting into a "Kirito - The hero boy who saves people inside virtual mmo's!" story... Althought, it would be quite cool to see him travelling and adventuring through a bunch of worlds on a quest to do 1 thing, or something like that- I don't feel like they emphasized as much of the whole "World Seed" thing as they should've.

SAO was on one of the most popular anime in 2012 (in Japan). So, it'll definitely get another season.

Fyi, I've read all the translated novels. And I gotta say, they are awesome! Heaps better than the anime series, imo.

If you get rid of Kirito, you lose the story. The whole series is his life.

I know, I'm just saying it would be tough to expand on a story like this, after awhile it would get really repetitive. The only real way to expand more would be to introduce some sort of new problem (possibly something else one of the villains was doing outside of the VRMMO, or something)

The problem is the fact that the network didn't pay for the story to be completed (yet, at least). They paid for 25 episodes of it. They were only able to fit so much of the story into it, which by the way isn't all of it. What has been animated so far is only about 65% - 70% of the full story - go read the light novels if you want to see the rest of it.

Everyone says this. The ending wasn't rushed *talking about both acrs*. It's how it happened in the novels, if you go and read them, you'd realize.

And if it happened in the novels then all it means is that the novels were rushed and forced too, that doesn't change anything.

Let me ask you this: how was it not rushed and forced? Episode 14 had so many flaws I couldn't stand it. Heathcliff's reveal was pretty badass but it felt lazy to just stop the story with 25 more floors to go, especially since if we take away the side stories the main story was pretty damn short to begin with. It wasn't even the kind of thing where you could see the ending coming the episode before (well unless you looked at the next episode's title being "The End of the World" or something but that doesn't count), it just happened in a flash and it wasn't that great. Not to mention the fight was filled with deus ex machina. Asuna dying was pretty dramatic I'll admit, but Kirito's fight with Heathcliff was pretty awful, in the real "fighting" part he didn't even land a single legitimate hit (partly because he seemed to be whacking at the shield when it's obvious that it wouldn't do anything) and next thing you know he not only uses willpower to survive what was obviously a killing blow (a very popular deus ex machina Shounen trope) but manages to kill THE final boss, the guy who through hype should utterly crap on the boss that the group of players just struggled to defeat with combined efforts, through a SINGLE STAB in spite of the fact that he could not even hit him once beforehand. Did Kirito hack the game to get troll attacking power at the very end? Was Kayaba so stupid he couldn't properly program himself to have a reasonable amount of health? Were the SAO staff members trolling us? Whatever it is, episode 14 was pretty poor all things considered and regardless of how the source material played it out, it doesn't change what I've been saying and I haven't been shown anything suggesting otherwise. Also, I don't know if the novel explained this better, but it doesn't make sense to me how the two ended up dying in the game but, for one ultimately survived in real life, and secondly only one of them came out perfectly intact. Obviously it was needed for the sake of continuing the plot but that alone is a pretty weak reason all things considered.

Now there are definitely other people out there who have worse to say about SAO but all things considered I enjoyed it. Regardless of all that though I fail to see how anyone can justify the sloppy, rushed way of concluding SAO's arc that took place in episode 14.

i watch everything, my reason for not liking it ? cause i don't see anything special from the show that can trigger my curiosity,

I enjoyed SAO online and it had potential to be in my top 5 until I saw the 2nd arc (alfheim arc).

I liked SAO arc since it was exploring the mentality of being trapped in a game and how reality and fantasy becomes blurred when you're in there for years with no connection with the outside/real world. There were some episodes in the sao arc that annoyed me such as that 11 year old girl being escorted through the gardens and the pervertedness of it :/ I thought the relationship between asuna and kirito was well done.

However the 2nd arc ruined what made the show great.

- Kirito's sister being in love with him was messed up and creepy
- Way too much fan service that I could only imagine a 12 year old kid being addicted to hentai would enjoy :/
- Very rushed and didn't delve deeper into the different factions of the game

In my opinion, it should have ended at the part where Kirito woke up from SAO and he limps across the corridor.

I'll continue to watch it if they decide to make more but I've lost any hype I had for it.

Yeah it wasn't perfect. But, from what I hear, the actual story was like that, if you read the light novels. Besides, the company who produced the anime wasn't paid to do the story arc, they were paid for 25 episodes of SAO. Thus, the story kinda got compressed and stretched at some points. And in terms of plotholes, there aren't really that many considering the story isn't all that complex, or at least nothing so big that it NEEDS to be explained or else it effects the entire story (besides, this isn't the full story arc anyways, this is only about 65% of it). And in terms of the story getting boring, it's supposed to cool down like that. The whole idea is that the main character ends up spending years of his life in this alternate world, where it starts to BECOME his real life. The point is that they aren't going to get to floor 100 in a couple of days, it's supposed to be like that. Although I value your opinion, at least support it logically.

The plot is rushed at times (mostly episode 14) but I mean as a whole yeah I'd have to agree that SAO isn't REALLY that bad and judging an anime's quality from 4 out of 25 episodes is not a fair chance at all. Dropping it that early means missing out on some of the best emotional moments of the story and skipping out on the awesome looking fights, both of which carry SAO more than anything else. There are anime I would deem superior to SAO but I'd say that it's at least worth getting to the halfway point before deeming it to be complete garbage.
