A lot of people here on the base are constantly saying that this and that character is all hype, blah blah blah; but do they understand why they are held in such high regard? Look at this vid in the link below...
In their battle Hashirama faced not just Madara but a Madara who had already taken his brother's eyes and had summoned the Kyuubi to the fray. Still he beat them with his prowess and skill.
Then you have Tobirama, the younger brother of Hashirama and the Second Hokage.
Tobirama was so powerful he could create a torrent of water without there being any water source. After the death of his brother it was he who filled the post of Hokage, and those are some pretty big shoes to fill. He would have to be a boss to be even considered and from what we know he was the only one chosen after his brother died for candidacy. And don't forget the dude freaking created water from the air around him! Eat your heart out jeebus, LOL!
Then you have Hiruzen.
To put his power into perspective let's examine his opponents in his final battle: Hashirama brought down Kyuubi and Madara while he was alive; Tobirama was the second strongest in the village after Hashirama himself; and Orochimaru was so skilled that he fought a four tailed Naruto in BM and survived while his arms were sealed making it impossible for him to be at full strength.
Hiruzen was called both the Professor and the God of Shinobi and seems to have overshadowed at the very least Tobirama in power. He was also the sensei of three of the most powerful shinobi in history, earning themselves their own special title and rank. Yeah the hype all right.
And what of the Sannin?
They are the embodiment of rock, paper, scissors and cancel one another out so to pit them against each other is pointless (Tsunade is rock, Jaraiya is paper, and Orochimaru is scissors IMO). They are the only known sages in Narutoverse at the moment besides NAruto himself.
There is no hype when it comes to these characters, the same way there isn't any hype when it comes to Sandaime Raikage, Sandaime Tsuchikage, Yondaime Minato, etc.
They're in a league of their own and should be taken out of top tens unless it is specifically a Kage/Sage top ten/twenty.
