Why is it really that Sakura is such a disliked character?

Unless she gets wood release from the whole "Cancer jutsu" (the "Omfg I'm so haxxored I'm infectious!" thing Hashirama got going), I can't help but feel she'll be underwhelming still.

Besides, I hope she gets the sidelines.

Keep hoping. ;)

Keep hoping. ;)

Can do, I really don't have that much of an emotional investment into any character to get to the point where I get frustrated with one getting more of the spotlight than another. :)

@Lilvic92:

About 539&540. I'll just copy what I said somewhere else.

For me, 539 & 540 are very tricky to be honest and at first when I saw it, I was aah, clearly, Sakura loves Sasuke.
However, after a second, third read, I kinda perceived it differently.

539 ==> the letter nin guy comes along, tells her he wants to give the letter of love, etc. Sakura's reaction there is so calm and genuine when she says to him that "there's already someone else she...", once again intentionally left out.
When it has been like genuinely talk about her feelings and be ok with it? When did she left her heart open? When Naruto was around, when she confessed to him. Always surrounded publicly when she showed her genuine love/care for Naruto.
So in 539 we have a Sakura.

540 ==> Now, to 540 I found different translations (Gosh, this is so hard). In one, the nin letter guy says that "if it's someone you like " then they're bound to be a great person.
Now, see... like doesn't equal love. So we have a Sakura thinking at Sasuke. "Yeah, I like him but he's not such a great guy" or fairly "He's not the great guy I used to like".

The second one "He must be a really great guy if you're in love with him" and afterwards we have Sakura thinking at Sasuke and the same way can be "Yeah, he's not the great guy I used to love"...

Also, that phrase with "the other guy" introduced there and afterwards Sakura thinking at Sasuke can fairly mean "Yeah, the other guy that I'm in love with is not such a great guy as it used to be" and this could come as a opposite thing.
Meaning the guy she is in love with (the genuine expression in 539) is Naruto, but the other guy she's in love with would be Sasuke and her realizing that he's not that great guy she used to love in Part 1.

Dunno if you guys understand what I'm saying as I suck at explanations, but hope you get the idea somehow.

Yes, she was thinking at Sasuke, but those (...) can be interpreted in so many ways and I think that Kishi intentionally let that out, not to mention how 539 and 540 portray Sakura. It's like we have two different Sakuras.
They come in opposition with one another. One is genuine ok with her feelings, the other one is sad.

So yeah, this is very tricky.

Taking it on face value and as a linear conversation, I agree that the logical implication is she was talking about Sasuke.

However, I also agree that it was written in a way that could be interpreted otherwise. One thing that doesn't get talked about much is the fact that regardless of Naruto's ultimate reaction to her confession, Sakura did publicly commit herself to Naruto at that time.

Even when Naruto argued with her she maintained that she could decide for herself how she felt, and challenged him by saying, "You think a girl confessing her love is stupid?" She never backed down from her statement that she loved Naruto and had chosen him over Sasuke. Whether Naruto and all the witnesses believed her or not doesn't change what she said or the impression she left by her statements.

So in that light, when Lover-nin first offered his letter and Sakura said, "Thank you, but there's someone else I--" Someone else she loves? She's promised to? She's made a public commitment to? In other view, the fact that it is worded that way and left incomplete does not rule out Naruto because she chose him publicly and that's where it was left.

Privately, though, when Lover-nin says (in the present tense, no less), "He must be a great guy if you're in love with him..." Sakura definitely thinks of Sasuke, albeit very unhappily. So she's still confused about the nature of her feelings for him. But then, we knew that from everything that happened at the summit.

And if we take Kishi's interview into consideration, her confession and, as well, the whole thing around, kinda leads to the fact she is getting over Sasuke, but if people expect it to pass that quickly, than I don't know what to think. When Sakura development comes into play, it's done in many chapters. ANd if it took the Shippuden to show how she changed from viewing Naruto from the mischievous little one who bothered her to the one she confessed to, how can we think that her feelings for Sasuke will disappear in one panel/chapter?

So, hope you understand from where I'm coming from.

Yeah it's always hard to interpret these kind of things when different sites give different translations.
And I definitely see where you're coming from. I too believe that Sakura was speaking the truth when she confessed to Naruto, I mean Kishi said it himself. And Sakura looked jealous and when she acknowledged Hinata's love for Naruto during the Pain invasion and in the recent manga during Hinata's epic talk-no-jutsu.

But let me ask you here and now, why is it that you prefer NaruSaku over SasuSaku?
Cause like I said before, Sakura's confession to Sasuke before he left and Sasuke's thank you to Sakura made me a SasuSaku fan for life lol

What made me? The fact that alongside Naruto, Sakura can be herself. She doesn't have to pretend in order to impress, like she did with Sasuke back in Part 1. Hence, inner Sakura.
Everyone asked themselves what happened to Inner Sakura from back in part 1. Well, Inner Sakua was a result from her repressed feelings, but alongside Naruto she doesn't have to repress those feelings. She is Natural.
As well, their interaction and the fact they've been there for one another. They've cried together, laughed together, fought together, cried again together, then smiled and encouraged one another.

I'll give you a private link to understand better why NS is my OTP, not just a ship like SS/NH.

As I told you, I was a former NH/SS. But the NH fandom pushed me away from this ship and NS interaction and everything made me only ship SS, but take NS as the ultimate OTP along all those ships. :)

Him trying to kill her didn't change that?

Oh so you see how stupid it is that she wants Sasuke? If you do then that's great, there is sense in you :p

The fact that she still thinks at Sasuke doesn't equal the fact that she wants Sasuke.
In my opinion, yes, Sasuke would downgrade her character.

But see, on the same logic we can call Naruto stupid for wanting to save Sasuke.

HEY HEY!!! stop bashing Naruto and Sakura for still loving Sasuke. They still believe that there is good in him, is that so wrong.
Naruto and Sakura's friendship has grown to an unbreakable bond type thing. SasuSaku will happen!!!

Meh their relationship is overrated. They were close for what a year and most of that time they hated each other Naruto and Sasuke hated each other and Sasuke didn't like Sakura. they were also 12 year olds.
