:shrug:I'm sorry for the long post but this is the only way I can explain:shrug:
Some of you guys here on NarutoBase forum asked why Sasuke was created by Kishi, and I decided to make a thread about it with facts from the manga.
*Note: I will not link pages because I have a very poor Internet connection atm, but I will add them after I solve the problems with my old Internet provider.
We know from Kishi that he created Sasuke because he thought that Naruto needs a rival, just like Vegita and Goku. I don't know if the story of the Sage of the Six Paths was at least in Kishi's mind before or when he created Sasuke, but if that's not the case, I will discuss about what Sasuke's role became in Shippuden.
I will start with the Uchiha clan and the story of the two sons of the SageOT6P. The Shinobi World/society(not the world itself) was created by the accomplishments of the SageOT6P: becoming the Juubi's first Jinchuuriki, discovering, learning and teaching knowledge about the jutsus to other people, bringing peace in the world. But the fate of the Shinobi was actually decided by his two sons who were the ancestors of the two major clans in NarutoVerse: the Uchiha and the Senju. On his dying bed, the Sage chose the Younger(Senju) because he believed the true key to peace is love, while the Edler(Uchiha) believe that power is the key. Then it happened, the Curse of Hatred was created, in a moment of jealousy, the Elder challenged his Younger brother to battle. No one alive knows who won in that battle, but one thing is certain: the battle has been passed to the next generations: Madara vs Hashirama, Sasuke vs Naruto, thus the Chain of Hatred was strengthened being incredibly difficult to break, but not impossible.
The Edler practically cursed his descendants, his clan, despite their intentions and feelings, no Uchiha is an exception, they are bound to live a cursed life:
Izuna: dying blind in battle after giving both his eyes to his brother
Madara: being thirsty for power, he was betrayed by his own clan that he formed and led
Obito: after having a honorable death, he was revived but his life turned into a nightmare
Shisui: was loyal to his clan and village but desperately wanted for his ocular powers by the leaders of enemy villages but also by some of his own village; he gave his remaining eye to his best friend, thus sacrificing himself so no more of his power would get on the wrong hands
Itachi: he was like Shisui; he was forced to choose between his own clan and village, so he killed his entire clan, including his mother and father, but not his younger brother which he protected for the rest of his life by deciding to be his enemy and worst nightmare
Sasuke: the survivor of the massacre of his clan, and one of the last living of his clan; he chose to be an avenger for the rest of his life without knowing this would make the Curse of Hatred to continue and be stronger
Sasuke is incredibly important and essential in deciding if the bond built between the Shinobi Alliance was for nothing or not. With the help of Naruto, he can break the Curse of Hatred that has ruled his clan, the Uchiha Clan, from its beginning, and the Chain of Hatred which ruled the Shinobi World for so long.
The result of Sasuke and Naruto's battle decides all those things:
- if Sasuke dies and Naruto survives then Naruto will fail his quest, letting down not only his best friend, but the world too, thus turning evil
- if Sasuke survives and Naruto dies, Sasuke will continue what he has started
- if both die, it also depends on how they die, but my opinion is that this means the Uchiha will no longer exist in the Shinobi and that would be a huge let down, mistake and disappointment from the Shinobi World, and if Sasuke dies without realizing the true meaning of Itachi and Naruto's ideas, principles, very probably he will curse the Shinobi World, and this also means that the Chain of Hatred will continue to exist
I believe the only way that the Shinobi World can come at TRUE Peace is that they forgive Sasuke and understand what he and his clan have been through, after all this is what "people truly understand one another", as Jiraiya said, truly means. This is what Sasuke's purpose is.
