Didn't Orochimaru defeat Jiraiya back when Orochimaru abandoned the village? Jiraiya chased after him and it showed the start of a fight... I think.

The manga implied that Orochimaru won that fight.

hydra mode is oro's strongest jutsu and i dont think that is enough to take down SM jiraiya, Jiraiya's own strongest form
