I'd like to think he is considering he was practically blown in half....but then again there is Unohana.

He is most likely dead though as he probably would've been stated to be alive when Byakuya and Kenpachi were mentioned to be the same

He is and I personally am pissed off at how he was pushed out of the story and no one in soul society cared but rojuro. So angry his bankai could have been epic.

He wasn't a major major character, but he was still a Lieutenant of the Gotei 13. I don't think he's dead. Kubo wouldn't just dissolve him away like that without saying something in the manga. Until someone actually says Kira died, I think we should give him the benefit of the doubt...despite being blown in half... >.<

Well they did relay that his reiatsu dissappeared to rojuro.

That doesn't really mean anything. Haschwald said Byakuya's reiatsu had vanished and that he died but he was wrong.

The point is, until we get a direct confirmation about Kira's status we shouldn't assume that he's dead.

-Hiyori got cut in half (literally), but she survived
-Matsumoto got her entire mid-section torn out, but she survived
-Byakuya got smashed through walls repeatedly by multiple blows by his own Senbonzakura Kageyoshi,...but he survived

Yes but a slight shot at best because the 4th squad was not deployed till after the quincy left and also hiyori had hacchi at he side using his techs to keep her alive.
Also is he was alive he would be in the same dilema byakuya is so he should have went as well with the royal guard.

Byakuya took more of a beating than Kira did though. And even if the 4th Squad wasn't sent out until after the Quincys left, we've seen instances where ex-4th Squad members who've moved to different divisions can still use healing techniques. When Matsumoto got her torso ripped out by Ayon we found out that Kira was formerly a 4th Squad member and he was able to stabilize her. Who's to say that among the soldiers who were around there couldn't have been someone capable of treating him?

Anyways, like I said, the point is until we get word that he's actually dead or actually alive we shouldn't just flat out assume that he's dead. Byakuya's zanpaktou even broke apart which is usually a bad sign but he still survived. Kubo doesn't like killing off his characters off. If Kira died then who would fill the vacant Lieutenant spot? There's no one who could replace him.

Not to mention Kira's Zanpakuto had quite a great and Unique Purpose... Multiplying exponentially the weight of any object it slices or cuts.

I'd really hate to see him and his zanpakuto gone, i think he wouldve had more of a role.
