Would the user still die if?(read)

If Hiruzen didn't use Reaper Death Seal on Orochimaru, but still used it on Hashi and Tobirama with his clones, would he have died? I used to think that the user doesn't die if they use it with a shadow clone, cause the clone would die, not the user. But, I think I changed my opinion cause it's quite obvious. But before I make it official in my book, do you guys agree or think that clone just pops and user lives? :shrug:

Since any information, and chakra is sent back to the user, i would assume that the reaper would have just taken Hiruzen's soul instead.

the reaper just takes his soul regardless....it requires a sacrifice, and the clones don't have souls.

the clones are just a medium, once you make the seals and summon the death god, he appears and binds your soul
then he will consume your soul along with your target

the clones have the chakra of user divided amongst themselves. The user gains experience out of the clones. So, i think the clones getting sealed would have lead to the user getting sealed too.
Btw, definitely an intriguing question. I myself have thought about it many times.
