That was interesting. But then again, both of them got blown back by that kunai clash. I think the uppercut was a blow that just messed up Neji's body to the point of not... moving? Ehh...
EDIT: ... crap I thought I quoted it... Someone was talking about Neji vs. Naruto fight and how Neji lost to an uppercut.
What I wanna know is why Kakashi, a Jonin, had to pull out his Sharingan just to see how fast Lee was... Every other fodder there were able to see him, even if it was barely.

He could either choose to use his Sharingan and see what was going on better than anyone, or he could just watch it normally, and barely see what was going on, like the rest of the people present.
Imagine a scenario where you're sitting in a cinema, and a 3d advertisement comes on. You can either choose to watch it in an uncomfortable way, like everyone else, or you can use the 3d glasses you happen to have in your pocket.
Nah, although Lee was controlling the fight, his lack of ninjutsu deprived him of this match; he just wasn't able to give a finishing blow. Gaara's sand was always going to eventually protect him. You see though, Sasuke, being able to fully utilize Lee's taijutsu as well as have ninjutsu by his side, was easily able to rip Gaara apart in the chuunin exams.

Then again, he IS Gai's chosen rival. He of all people should be aware of, and able to track, what Gai's style of combat is capable of. Even without the Sharingan.
So, here's a punch from Lee, unweighted but otherwise unenhanced:

A SINGLE punch with NO GATE ACTIVATED managed to completely remove Gaara's Sand Armor over a large portion of his face.
Here's Gai stating that the Initial Lotus is enough to break the Sand Armor:

And seemingly with good reason, the Lotus causes large-scale destrustion to the environment, nevermind the opponent:

But with the Fourth Gate active, Lee causes comparable damage with his FOOTSTEPS:

That kick ALONE should have been enough to completely disintegrate the Sand Armor along Gaara's jaw.
And then there's this combo:

Gaara should, by all rights, be reduced to bloody paste after all that. Unless the whole combo was WEAKER THAN A SINGLE UNGATED PUNCH, which seems to be the case:

If you look at the aftermath of the Etreme Lotus, Gaara's Armor is ALMOST COMPLETELY INTACT. And he himself stands up a moment later, seemingly none the worse for wear.
That just seems wrong to me.
Whaddaya think?
P.S: Who else wants a minion they can legitimately shout "EXPLODE!" to and expect something awesome to happen?
Well Gaara was a Jinchuriki at the time so he would have similar stamina and healing capabilities as Naruto and unlike Naruto, Gaara's seal didn't seem to be as strong as Naruto's and he was used to the power of his Bijuu being able to tap into his powers as a child so it's not surprising that he could actually endure the extreme lotus; also it was an introduction to the power of the jinchurikis.
Lee should have won for sure but think about how the story would be if he did. Gaara also escaped primary lotus in a impossible way but it was still a great fight.

"fuly utilize" is stretching it MIGHTILY. He can't use the Gates. He's capable of evading the sand, just like Lee was, and he's fast enough to make use of the Chidori. But the piercing power of the Chidori is inferior to the Extreme Lotus in how much damage it can deal.
Gaara should have ended up as broken as the floor. There's such a thing as internal damage, and even through the Armor Lee should have been able to induce significant amounts of it...

Why would he waste his precious chakra that way? He's a Jonin, so you'd think he'd have heightened senses compared to the other people. Idk, maybe just Lee hype.
You said Lee was controlling the fight when he was just tickling gaara the whole time, notice how Gaara just get up and walk away at the end of the fight like it was nothing.

He'd not necessarily have healing abilities, as far as I can tell he's never shown any. It seems to be a hallmark of the Kyuubi. Also, Naruto's Uzumaki heritage (and stronger demon) grant him superior stamina, as evidenced by their fight with each other.
