those are the interpretations and assumptions of western scholars. Mayan elders have said that there is no end and nothing to fear but to celebrate and welcome the beginning of a new cycle and will be a time of enlightenment. I'd rather believe these Mayan descendants then western scholars and im also pretty sure if it meant the end of the world. it would be all over Mayan scriptures........which it's not

well for one if they did indeed predict the end, why isnt written in their temples? why is there no Mayan scripture about the end of the world. and there are Mayan elders still alive to this day. google them, they have articles saying what i posted. none of these people who say the end is coming have no solid proof. they base it off this calendar ending.
