2. to cast IZANAGI, jutsu To cancel death, but cost losing eyesight
3. to make sure he didn't fail due to carrying Moon eye plan.
you can call that stock of soul if he died

for what he help itachi?, he didn't have revenge to uchiha clan , like madara did
but only to make sure, he can't failed untill moon eye plan has come.

q : when he get so many sharinggan in his secret lab?
a : off course since uchiha clan slaughtered (feat itachi)
