Gaara wasn't armorless at this moment, he can activate it his armor of sand at any times, again, the results would have been exactly the same.

He can activate the initial version of the Armor, true. It takes longer to use the improved version. And the initial version is nowhere near enough.

Yes and you know it, Sasuke actually made Gaara bleed, unlike Lee.
How can I not know what? If Gaara unleashed Shukaku there's nothing Lee could have done, he would just get crushed just like Dosu during the chunin exam break. But frankly he didn't have to resort to this.

Because Lee is about as fast as Dosu. Wait, he ISN'T? In fact, while using the Gates, he's FASTER than Tournament-Sasuke, who managed to evade the sand?!

Would that mean Lee wouldn't immediately be crushed by even a partial Shukaku-form? It certainly looks that way.

Does the Partial Change retain the ability to use Sand Armor? No?

So Lee's attacks would be effective.

Were even Naruto's CLONES enough to overwhelm and damage the Partial transformation? Yes? So Lee's taijutsu would be MORE than enough.

What defeated Shukaku, in the end? Was it TAIJUTSU? Do we know a character who is good in TAIJUTSU?

The manga proofs are still on track :
Gaara wasn't injured a bit after the fight
He didn't need to use Shukaku.

He may not have been injured, but that doesn't mean it was an EASY fight for him. Especially when he focused EXCLUSIVELY on protecting himself for most of it.

He didn't USE Shukaku. If he had, he wouldn't have fared as well as he did...

True, but the Front Lotus would have been enough to destroy the initial Sand Armor, according to Gai. Collaborated by Gaara, in that he felt the need to substitute himself.

So, why wouldn't the Extreme Lotus have worked?

I'm just going to add this. Maybe Lee's punches should have done more damages but look at Naruto vs Kabuto. The dude took a rasengan to the stomach. Earlier version of the rasengan during training was enough to break rocks, the stablized version should have made a hole in him, med jutsu or not. Or the Itachi clone in Part 2 that took a odama rasengan. See my point ? Power level varies, the manga just as its ''flaws''. Or chidori that makes large hole in rocks but barely pierced Gaara

I find it amusing that people can argue about something a manga chapter from many years ago.

Anyway, the only reasons Lee didn't defeat Gaara is bcuz Lee didn't have a strong enough killing move.

Hidden lotus is very strong, that is true. But to kill Gaara and his sand defense, you need Ninjutsu. Which is simply something Lee didn't have.

At this point in time, Lee would've defeated everyone but Neji and Gaara. Due to being bad matchups.

The other reason is, biju don't want their Jinchuriki to die. So if Lee almost killed Gaara, Gaara starts to transform. Which Gaara would then kill Lee easily.

But sadly, as of right now in the manga, Gaara>>Lee with gates.

A SINGLE punch with NO GATE ACTIVATED managed to completely remove Gaara's Sand Armor over a large portion of his face.

Here's Gai stating that the Initial Lotus is enough to break the Sand Armor:

That kick ALONE should have been enough to completely disintegrate the Sand Armor along Gaara's jaw.

Gaara should, by all rights, be reduced to bloody paste after all that. Unless the whole combo was WEAKER THAN A SINGLE UNGATED PUNCH, which seems to be the case:

If you look at the aftermath of the Etreme Lotus, Gaara's Armor is ALMOST COMPLETELY INTACT. And he himself stands up a moment later, seemingly none the worse for wear.

That just seems wrong to me.

P.S: Who else wants a minion they can legitimately shout "EXPLODE!" to and expect something awesome to happen?

Do more of these threads. Like how Edo Hashirama + Edo Tobirama should've destroyed the aging Hiruzen (yet the match-up was so bad even plot no jutsu couldn't stop Hiruzen from dying).
