The silence of a most dark night was interrupted by a violent breeze which swept the sand on the jagged terrain of this part of Iwagakure into a sizeable dust cloud. Onoki observed this and was quick to ascend higher into other to avoid the dust. Highly elevated from the earth, Onoki began to head in the direction of the Konoha camp at a very slow and relaxed pace. His wrinkled face softened and his lips curved into something of a grin.
It was rare that this old timer was happy, after all, he alone bore the woes and troubles of Iwagakure on his aged spine which was absolutely nothing to smile about. But it was a good night, he had quickly caught wind of an invasion of foreign ninja, tracked them to their hiding place and murdered the trump card of their attack force, the angel of death known as the Yellow Flash. A peculiar ninja who had an abnormal amount of prowess and fame for his age, the Yellow Flash was quite an individual. Onoki almost wished he was on Iwa's side rather than Konoha's. The Tsuchikage would have made sure to beat into him the ruthlessness that marked an Iwagakure ninja and he would definitely not have grown into adulthood with, what was in Onoki's opinion, a flimsy resolve. A true ninja, knowing how outnumbered they were in addition to the presence of a ninja of Onoki's level, would have abandoned his team and teleported far, far away and left them for dead. After all, there was no way their lives could be more valuable, the Yellow Flash could probably compensate for the abilities of everyone of them in a battle. But it was too late now, the youth's talent and genius was now forever gone. Onoki shrugged and picked up the pace. “Kitsuchi and the others better be done by the time I get there.” he mused and he floated through the cloudless, moonlight sky.
“Crap! Kushina, there's about to break through!” a Konoha ninja cried out. His face was the very picture of fear. Eyes wide in complete dread, his face pale and lifeless, drenched in sweat and he was visibly trembling, barely keeping a good grasp on the kunai he held in his right hand. He was referring to the bright yellow dome that encompassed the entire camp. A barrier of the highest quality, crafted by Uzumaki Kushina herself using some of the strongest chakra in existence. The dome was receiving an overwhelming amount of punishment from the hundreds of Iwa ninja who were on the other side of the defense and it was cracking under the pressure.
“More! Put in everything you've got and crush that thing!” Kitsuchi ordered in a deep, hoarse voice that could match the Tsuchikage's and carried the same authority. The horde of shinobi, in large numbers, weaved a number of hand seals and simultaneously unleashed a tremendous variety of powerful attacks. Devastating everything that stood in its path, the massive conflagaration of ninjutsu smashed into Kushina's barrier and obliterated it. The legion of Iwagakure shinobi rushed into the barrier space through the hole they created like a pack of hungry wolves about to devour their unsuspecting prey.
Kushina was seated on the ground, her mind miles away from the ensuing confrontation. “Minato, did you really die?” She wondered as her vision began to blur due to the tears that formed in her eyes. Her bright aquamarine pupils immediately turned to a terrifying crimson and her canines grew larger and sharper. A red cloak of chakra bearing three long tails coated her entire body as her nails sharpened into long, dreadful claws. She roared, an animalist cry completely absent of reason and set her sights on the Iwa nin with a deathly, blood curdling glare before disappearing from sight in a burst of immense speed. Kushina arrived in front of the enemies in much less than a second and repelled the ninjas at the forefront with a loud roar of immense chakra.
“What the fu...” an Iwa shinobi began to speak but was cut off by the sudden appearance of the enraged Nine Tails jinchuuriki directly in front of him much to his shock. A chakra arm launched out from her blood red cloak and the ethereal appendage captured his neck then snapped it, killing him instantly.
Kushina then proceeded to cut a swath through the opposition, leaving a trail of blood and cries of pain in her wake while her comrades could only look on in shock. As she tore asunder yet another ninja, she came upon the burly figure of Kitsuchi.
The Iwagakure ninja gazed at his incoming opponent with anger because she had just laid waste to many of his comrades and also with awe and fear since she wielded the power of the strongest Bijuu. He quickly slammed his two palms on the ground. “Doton: Chidokaku.” he intoned. The ground beneath Kushina sectioned off from the rest of the terrain and sunk deep into the earth, trapping Kushina in a pit with a rectangular shape. “Bury her.” he ordered in a guttural voice.
Five Iwa shinobi appeared and surrounded the hole before each formed a set of identical seals. “Yōton: Sekkaigyō no Jutsu” then simultanously spewed what resembled wet cement into the cistern. The sludge rained on Kushina and she winced in disgust, her feral features wearing a annoyed visage. One of the five ninja then formed another set of seals. “Suiton: Mizurappa” he muttered before spewing a large volume of water at Kushina. The water mixed with the cement, expanding it around Kushina and slowly immoblizing her.
“Tsuchikage-sama will be pleased with our capture of the Kyubi's jinchuuriki.” remarked Kitsuchi with a slight smirk as he watched the mixture of cement and water slowly submerge the red-haired kunoichi. “Unearth her after she's had a few minutes without breathing.” he commanded and began to walk away. Suddenly, Kitschi heard the all too familiar roar of the Kyubi's jailor followed shortly by the sound of rock shattering and the cries of his comrades. He turned around to see the Iwa ninjas, who had earlier trapped the jinchuuriki, laying on the ground with blood seeping out of their unconscious bodies and Kushina was hovering over them, her blood red eyes dead set on Kitsuchi himself, giving him a hateful glare.
“She escaped that!” he mused before he was suddenly sent flying by a direct punch to the face. He tumbled several times on the ground before coming to rest when his back smashed into a nearby rock and he grunted in pain.
Kushina smirked, revealing elongated canines and turned to her right, where she saw a black haired Konoha ninja fending off a number of Iwa ninja with a sword. She rushed to his aid, laying waste to his enemies in an instant. “Are you ok, Uchiha Kato?” she asked in a cold voice.
“I...I'm ok Kushina.” the ninja replied, his voice shaky, as his crimson Sharingan eyes scanned the blood red cloak of chakra that surrounded Kushina. His fear was understandable since he stood in the presence of the awe inspiring power of the Nine Tails. Both he and Kushina fell silent and the air carried the battle cries of the ninja around them. “I can't find Minato anywhere.” he began sheepishly, breaking the silence between them. “ I know he must have gone to face them first but since he hasn't returned and this many Iwa ninja made it to our camp...” his words trailed off and he hesitated to continue.
“Yes, Kato. Minato is most...likely...” her voice began to break. The pain of the loss of her fiancee swelled within her and leaked through her eyes as tears streamed down her cheeks. Suddenly, her coat of bubbling chakra gained a fourth tail and her skin began to flake off and burn away.
“K...Kushina what's going on?” asked Kato, eyes wide with fear as he took a step back from the kunoichi.
“I'm losing control...” Kushina muttered under her breath. “Damn it!” she cursed then grabbed her head as a searing migraine shot through her skull. Her skin continued to dissolve into thin air, leaving behind dark red layer of chakra. She felt her consciousness swaying and that of beast within her assuming control of her body. Suddenly, a bright yellow flash of light appeared before her eyes and she suddenly regained herself. Her crimson eyes returned to their warm shade of blue and the Kyubi's chakra dissipated. Kushina's jaw dropped when she saw the figure who stood in front of her. “Minato?”
“I've locked your seal Kushina. Sorry, I'm late.” he responded with a warm smile then turned towards the battlefield where the Konoha forces were being overwhelmed. “Time to put an end to this.”
