Alot of people claim that Nagato is dumb and merely a powerhouse. Where do people get off to say that? Honestly we havent seen enough screen time of Nagato to say whether or not he was a genius or not but through what we have seen there is nothing that indicates he is unintelligent.
Think about it he was able to figure out how Itachi got out of Edo tensei right away with no explanation, while naruto and Bee needed one. Not many ninja can deduce something like that so quickly. Through the way he fights with the paths he shows intelligent, how he alone was able to over throw hanzo and his entire government and military, him being in control of the Rain village and having such a unique security system, controlling akatsuki, staying calm and collective, and from what we have seen him do in battle with the 6pop and when he fought naruto bee and Itachi were all very smart and show much intellegence. The way he used human path to spy on the intelligence team of konaha was also impressive. Also since Nagato is a expert sensor he must have very impressive battle tactics.
I believe many people come off with this assumption that he is unintelligent because of the Itachi vs Nagato threads. People say that Itachi has the upper hand when it comes to brains and for some reason believe Nagato is a moron because of that. I wont argue whether or not Nagato is smarter than Itachi but even if Nagato is not as smart as Itachi that does not mean he is stupid. Personally i think he is a very intelligent ninja and if anything is just a little bit less intelligent than characters like Itachi and minato if not the same.
