Sage is about to die.
Sage is aware Juubi will be released when he dies.
Sage makes moon.
Sage is also aware of the possibility of the Juubi one day becoming freed, and nobody will be able to stop it.
Sage comes to the solution of sealing himself into the Juubi so that the Juubi will transform into him eventually, he will take control of the consiensness, and seal him and it back into the moon.
Day is saved.

Get it now? The reason your Naruto and Kurama thing doesn't make sense is because for 1, Naruto and Kurama are friends... he has no reason to want to seal himself in it because he won't be sealing Kurama when he dies.
2, Kurama is through with his rampages, Naruto reached his heart now. They're on good terms.

I doubt he'd have only leave behind 1 solution to the Jubi outbreak, it's possible that his spirit would only appear once the Jubi reaches a certain state of transformation, just like Minato set his spirit to appear right after the complete Jubi was restored.

Ive been saying that Rikudo sennin did the same thing as Minato did to Naruto. He prepared for the case where it escaped.

I think he did, He brought Ninjutsu into the world. I think instead of it being just one man that wins its going to take all of the ninja in the world, so after they can realize how dim they were. S06P brought peace to the world and prepared ninjutsu for if the juubi ever broke out.
