Fire is supposed to be hotter than magma so how come Akainu was able to burn Ace ?

It depends on the fire whether it is hotter or not. The magma was probably hotter than Ace's fire.

fire is not hotter than magma, it is the possible outcome of magma therefore much lower in temperature.

Honestly I would say it was due to Akainu's Haki being much greater than Ace's thus somehow cancelling out his flames or allowing Akainu to punch a hole through him.

its simple silly Ace dont had haki think soo Akainu Over powered him and also even for example ace fought aokiji (dont know spelling) even though there power is neutral he is most likely to lose as there power lvl is bit high ......

I am no scientist and I doubt akainu's magma can burn ace's fire without haki but I also believe ace had haki but he had make himself physical in order to save luffy other wise he could easily make the magma go through him without getting hurt.

I don't think fire from Ace is hotter than magma, since magma can reach temperatures between 600 - 1600 degrees Celsius.
Do remember though that you can turn off fire by another fire (hence the term "fight fire with fire"), or by something hotter that will eat out the oxygen supply or fuel that the other fire is consuming.

you can't use science and logic in one piece or most of any mangas
it said in the manga that magma was stronger than fire
and marco's phoenix fire is probably stronger than akainu's magma

it aint just the element dude. akainus haki is too powerful thats why he destroyed ace which is a logia.
