First of all, I'd like to say that I am not trying to undermine either of those two ninjas' skills or credibility. I am just giving my opinion on the matter : this fight sucked.
Let us start analyzing that one chapter fight ( 502 ).
It's a little long but please read it all and always keep in mind that it's MY OPINION. What I am trying to say here is : don't act like mindless dolts and flame. You don't have to agree with me. Have A Nice Day!
#1 Rookie Mistake
So Obito is trying to sneak on Minato to absorb him but Minato eventually feels him coming. Obito manages to grab the 4TH HOKAGE known for his S/T JUTSUS ( add to that Minato is unaware of Obito's Kamui ) but he pauses to spout out some stupid one-liner...
#2 Minato is an ass
Lol just kidding ( am I really ? ), don't get mad. More seriously, what the f*ck is he doing watching his opponent in the eye when he has ( even wrongly ) deduced that he was Madara ? Like what, he's only the most feared Uchiha ever.. No big deal.. Uchihas are know for their genjutsus, even Lady Chiyo warned anyone against fighting them 1vs1 because of their lethal genjutsu skills. Yet Minato is blatantly staring at Tobi
#3 Obito, were you even trying ?
Yeah, just run toward Minato and try to catch a S/T USER with a CHAIN. Very smart move.
#4 It's official, Obito is an ass
I am serious here. That thing you tried to do 1 minute earlier but failed to do ? Let's try it again, maybe Minato is going to let himself be captured this time.
For his defense, he tried to grab Minato too ASAP
That's a small change but still it's a fail ( check reasons below )
So looking at it again, that was a poor move...
People usually say that "He didn't know about FTG level 2, it was an honest mistake" Excuse my language but that's just bullpoopie.
Reasons :
1- Let's admit he really didn't suspect anything about FTG level 2's existence, you tell me he didn't see that ?
Of course Minato would teleport away as soon as you lay a hand on him. Ain't that what he always do ?
2- Even if he didn't know about FTG level 2 and somehow didn't see that 2nd kunai on the ground, why did Minato threw the 1st kunai at you, huh ? A reasonably smart person would have smelled a trap, expected something from the ennemy. The dude might be flashy and little feminine but he's the 4th Hokage...
So yeah you guessed right, I really don't like that fight... I don't pretend that I could have done a better job staging this but I really expected MORE of Kishi. That fight was supposed to back up the hype behind the 4th and show us some of the strenght of the series' villain. It failed to do both. Minato fans will tell you how this fight rocked and how he wrecked Obito. They are half right, he did wreck Obito but that fight is overrated, it wasn't the usual awesomeness Kishi sensei is known for ( Sasuke vs Naruto, Jiraiya and Tsunade Vs Orochimaru, Pain vs Naruto, Pain vs Jiraiya, Sasuke vs Itachi, Sasuke vs Deidara, it goes on and on... )
