first let me say this: the 10 tailed beast (complete of course) IS all 9 tailed beast put together, the 9 tailed beast exist because the juubi was split into 9 pieces

but when i was read chapter 610, and noticed something about this page

kyuubi says "yeah...thats it" hachibi says "definitely" to naruto/kakashi's "is that..."

how can kurama and the 8 tails know what the juubi looks like if they were created AFTER the juubi was split into pieces?????????????????????????

using words like "definitely" suggests they are evaluating the looks of the jyuubi from some description they heard in the past like "ten tails" and "rippled eyes" and then confirming it.

It prolly wasn't the fact that they knew what he looked like exactly, and I do believe that the SO6P told them what he looked like, meaning they prolly just recognized the eye but more importantly they prolly felt his energy and the charka of the other tailed beasts and their own coming from the Juubi
