I'm sorry, but that whole "miracles will happen" concept is ridiculous. It's just something people tell themselves so they forget about the cruel and harsh possibilities.

If I was brain dead, I'd want my family to pull the plug, there's no way to come back after that.
However, I could never pull the plug on a family member, but I wouldn't be against it, simply cause I know that those people can't come back, and holding on to them is simply pointless, and in the long run, it'd just bring more pain than if the plug had been pulled earlier :/
