When you hold the door for someone do you wait for someone who is 10ft away?

Ok if there is someone about 10-15 feet away from you do you bother to wait and hold the door for them? This happened to me earlier today while going into school today , I'm walking into the front doors of the school and I look behind me and there's a girl I have to roughly estimate about 10 feet maybe 15 the most so I just think to my self that i'll just keep walking because she was walking pretty slow. So I walk through the door and I hear just as soon as I close the door say something similar to , "Wow , you couldn't hold the door for a lady?" at this point I turned around and looked she was about 8 feet away from the door  . This kind of bugged me all day so after school I walk out of class and i'm walking out of the school and I see two girls about 5 feet or so away so this time I decide to hold the door for these two girls and all i hear from one of the girls is , "Well you don't have to just to stand there and wait for us.So stop rushing us!!" :sy: So my point here is how far does some have to be for you to hold the door open for them?

If she/he is at least 7 feet away from you I always hold the door. If they ever told me that "you should not hurry us" I simply slam the door in their face.

Yes of course, I'll hold the door open for someone 10 to 15 feet away, but then when they're about a foot away I'll give them a dirty look & slam the door.

I probably would have just because of my nature, bit to be honest from that distance she needs to deal with it herself....basically she was being self entitled -.-!!!!

All I gotta say is that you have some really douchey girls at your school.

OT: I suggest always holding the door open for anyone in a distance that seems reasonable. If they're 30 feet away, don't bother. But if they're like 10 away, like you said, I'd probably hold it.

I swear some people expect way too much from people when it comes down to holding doors :flaw:

Anything under 6 ft you open the door for them

If they are seniors or people on clutches you open the door for them if they are 20 ft or less from you

Though you can only guess how far of a distance they are from you

Yeah , there is a decent amount of stuck up girls in my school but I suppose that is natural.

If they have an injury or a physical disability then I'll have more patience to wait and hold the door them longer then most people but for seniors I'll handle it like a normal person but since im cool with most of the upperclassmen i'll hold it for them cause i'm cool with them.

Lol. xd

I always hold the door, even if I see someone 20 feet away, because you need sensor to get into the building, and the office staff get mad when you don't have it. But no one's ever said anything rude like that to me.

Well in my school they only lock the doors around 8:15 after that you need an ID to get in. But if they need a sensor to get into the building then I would most likely hold the doors open longer. And this is the second time ever someones made a comment to me about holding the door , maybe its just my luck or i'm just doing something wrong . lol

If it's a lady, I'll hold the door at 20-30 feet away and let her enter first, for a guy it's around 3-5 feet depending on my mood and it's just long enough for them to grab it on my way in. xd The dude can grab his own door, a woman should never have to lift her hand...I am a gentleman after all.

If a woman complains that I'm rushing them, I'll simply smile, bow and tell them to take their time. The guy wouldn't be far enough away to complain really.

If this someone is far away and holding something that looks heavy and it might get in the way of opening the door, yes, I wait and hold it for said person.
Other than that, no, well, I make the judgement based on how long it takes for the door to close.
For example: if it closes quickly, I don't wait, if slowly, I might.

If anyone has a problem with me holding the door, saying I'm rushing them.. I mean, they can take all the time they want, because If I am to hold the door for someone, I'm actually well understood with the fact that this means holding it until they actually get there and it isn't as if I'll tire holding a door for a few secs. If they're still ungrateful, maybe I'll just stop them and close it myself before they get there, seeing as ow they don't need to rush.

If the are young people I would only hold the door open for them if they are standing right behind me. But if it are seniors, I will open the door for them, if they are coming towards me (within the 10 seconds range or longer, depends on the situations)

if you have a disability or old age (60+) no matter how far you are and I know you are coming, I'll hold the door for you. If you are cool and I know you I'll hold the door for you also no matter the distance. If I don't know you, and you dont meet the criteria previously metioned and also you are not within 3 inches behind I'm not holding the door for you. Kick rocks.

Edit: if they want to say something smart, then say something smart back. (like hurry your ass up then, you got two hands and two feet right?)
