That thinks the whole alliance thing between Suna and Konoha that developed after the joint Suna-Oto attack on Konoha seems a bit odd? I just don't understand how the village that attacked Konoha became allies virtually overnight just because Oro tricked them into attacking Konoha. Hidden villages just don't seem to get over that kind of stuff so quickly. I understand that Oro was the mastermind, and casualties occurred on both sides, but the fact that Konoha completely forgave Suna after organizing the attack that led to Hiruzen's death seems strange. Any thoughts?

Konoha was so crippled from the loss of their own shinobi, i think they would've been crazy not to form a loose alliance with Suna. Remember they were so low on ninja that they sent Shikamaru (a brand new Chunin) to be in charge of a squad of Genin (Naruto, Neji, Choji, Kiba & Akamaru) on an S rank mission to try and bring back Sasuke?

I would imagine people still held trudged...clearly shown during the whole Gaara speech. But also strategically Konoha was in bad shape from loosing their fodder meatshields while the strong fighters were busy evacuating people. So if an enemy wants to call a truce (an enemy that potentially has you out gunned with several full strength nations watching, it is logical to simply agree to one to survive. The filler episode with the Old man that was a genin nicely displayed that sense of military weakness.

With a truce all one has to do is watch their borders only keeping an eye out for other enemies, but not panicked in the sense of immenent attack. Keeps panicked actions down. Also during the time skip I'm sure some truce related stuff helped bond the villages.

Orochimaru being the mastermind easily helps make the treaty go as it shows the Sand wasn't likely to attack after being decieved.
