This has been bothering me for a little while now.

Yes I do like Jiraiya a lot but what do you guys think he would have done in the current situation? Do you think it was necessary to kill his character off as a means of balancing the field?

Now that I think about it I think Jiraiya would have been a huge asset to the ASF( Allied Shinobi Forces ) and would with Sage Mode given the edo ninja and others a run for their money. maybe im over rating him but I do believe in Jiraiyas techniques and what has been said about his powers.

Im curious as to what you guys think. Why Kishi killed him & what he could have done to keep Jiraiya in the story.

I agree that he would have been a huge help in the war but they killed him off maybe to show how naruto can grow on his own, or just because he's such a good spy. :)

His death was necessary to the plot, and he would be more valuable on the battlefield for his sealing, not his SM.

He died because pain needed to do something to be given some credibility.

Naruto needed, plotwise, something to give him that motivation to become stronger which can only happen through death. He needed to show that he to has lost someone really close to him like Nagato had.

He died for the plot. I think if he lived he prob could have raped most of the ninjas 1v1 or Versus several. I think his death was needed though. Either he or tsunade had to die.

Naruto would've been dead right now because he wouldn't have control over kyuubi, Killer B is the one who taught him that not jiraiya...

J-man played a big part in Naruto controlling the 9tails to a extent. Bee just gave he that extra push.

I like how you actually spelled his name instead of calling him J-Man.

Everytime I see your Avatar it puts this bad taste in my mouth at the way that game ended, lol. But anyway, not really Nagato raped the Leaf village then revived them because of talk-no-justu. So ehh.

one thing i like about kishi and his manga is he is never afraid to kill an important character... not like bleach and other animes.... it makes more intersting the way kishi put ups the story...

haha I don't even remember how FF8 ended! I finished it over 6 years ago and completely sped through it -_- I gotta replay it sometime. I don't mean to go off topic but did you ever read the "Squall is dead " theory? kinda creepy!

And i totally agree! I like how he makes the plot that much more interesting because just when you least think it ... Someone super powerful is dead.. Brought back ... And dead again -_- (itachi )

Jiraiya played the role of the mentor and guide for Naruto. His character was fully realized and there was nothing left to develop. Like Obi Wan or Gandalf his death was necessary so that the protagonist can develop and become fully realized through their own journey, but like those other two don't count Jiraiya out completely. He may return in some form or fashion.
