Watch Gurren Lagann hands down it is one of the best animes out there that you could possibly find. Everyone who I have recommended it to thought it was great. The dub and the sub are amazing.

Full Metal Panic is a great comedy, One of the best funny animes while still being action packed.

Airgear may not sound good but I assure you when you get into it, it becomes a pretty good anime.

these aren't that popular and not all of them may be that you like, but they had deep impression in me. I suggest Gosick first, that was a really good anime.

durarara and baccano in my opinion are similar in the way that is about mistery and stuff

Durarara! and Baccano! are amazing shows, but they don't really relate to DN and CG. Though, I can't think of any series close to 'em..
