So awhile back I gave away my Xbox 360 Elite to my buddy of mine for $100 (with wireless adapter, 120 HDD, and two controllers) so I could buy the new Xbox 360 Slim with 250 gbs. Well soon enough after a year my parents gave it to my sister for some stupid a** reason and I needed a new Xbox. My friend whom I gave my old one too, got a brand new one because my old Elite got 3 red rings. Now I'm here trying to fix it up, it's a pain in the a** to complete. Have any of you guys torn apart your Xbox to fix it or just bought a new one? And any suggestions are welcome lol.

I have opened one up to try and fix the rings of death. xd I wasn't successful though, nor did I try very hard because I just sorta' gave up when I couldn't get it completely open. Apparently what's wrong is the cooling system, and believe it or not I could get a few extra minutes out of my old one by just blowing a fan on it, then it would crash. I had already had it refurbished once, so I figured it was time for a new one.

Thankfully, just the standard 360 is now extremely stable these days. The one I replaced it with has already lasted longer than the old one did even with the refurb, it just keeps going and doesn't seem to have a problem at all.

Damn that sucks! I fixed mine a couple of hours ago...it's ghetto because I don't have the outer skin on it because the disk tray is stuck inside of the disk drive. It takes 30 seconds to take off the top cover and putting a disk in it to play it. But I'm not complaining an Xbox is an Xbox and I can finally play games at my own house! Haha.

Best bet, throw it in the garbage and buy a PS3. You wont be able to play Halo anymore, but you wont need to buy a new console every year when your system gets a red ring. I have a pile of dead Xbox 360's in the closet at my aunts house, 3 of my own and 2 of my friends, that all red ringed and I wasn't able to fix.
