The Uchiha, are/were depnding on your timeline, a Clan from Konohagakure. They were one of the original two clans that formed Konoha, along with the Senju Clan. While Senju was guided by Hashirama, Uchiha was led by Madara Uchiha. Most uchiha have an affinity for fire, hence their crest, their fire fan. They were also the police force in Konoha.
The sharingan is a doujutsu from the Uchiha family. It is said to be the next stage of the Byakugan, and the form before the Rinnegan.
When an uchiha first awakens their tomoe, there is only one. However after training or emotional events, a second and third can appear.
The sharingan can see chakra as well as differentiate chakra signatures. It can also track seeds high than the normal eye can see.

How does the sharingan get unlocked? And what is the relation between the Sharingan and Genjutsu?

The sharingan can be unlocked through pain or through training. By concentrating on chakra in the eyes, this eventually transforms them.
The sharingan has been shows to be able to cast powerful genjutsu, and also can break out of low level genjutsu.

 

[Mephistopheles]

Trauma or a near death experience are the main causes of unlocking the Sharingan, so you're partly right.

Now, for the training. We're going to do the latter of the two causes. Because that is more fun.
Here is how we're going to do that. I'm going to attack you, and keep going until you're in a near death stage. And you, you are not going to do anything but take the hits and suffer.

Ah, you're like a real stress dummy. I mean not as in a real fake dummy, but as in a real person. But then in the form of a dummy because I can punch you and you will do nothing back :3 Without the shape of a dummy then, more human shape. for you're still human, but acting like a dummy. Well, not really acting... You know what I mean D;


I charge towards you and attack you with a series of punches and kicks, directed on your torso and legs until I reach the number of seven attacks in total.

I focus some lightning chakra into my arm and strike you into the air with an uppercut, using my lightning infused palm. I look at you and smile whilst you're flying up into the air.

*as I'm staggering backwards, I hear a crackle, and then feel an uppercut that sends meskyward as lightning ripples through my body. As the pain intensifies, I keep gathering chakra*

As you're flying upwards I jump towards you, taking hold of you and throwing you back to the ground. Whilst letting gravity do what it's good at I focus my earth chakra and after you hit the ground forcefully I make a couple of pointy pillars of earth impale you, causing you to lose a lot of blood, but not hitting any vital organs.*

As I'm sent flying upwards and feel you grab onto me, I have a sense of dread., feeling that this might have been a bad idea, as you hurtle me back down to the ground. As I look up at you while flying down to the ground, I feel a few spears pierce into my body as I land. I let out a loud cry of pain as tears well up In my eyes as I begin to bleed profusely. I close my eyes, pushing up my gathered chakra into my face into my eyes as I look back towards you. As I feel dizzy, with immense pain all over my body including eyes, I wonder what else my body will go through

Right after I see blood appearing I punch you whilst grabbing your shirt and pull you up from the ground. I look into your eyes and smile as I start charging unfocused chakra from my body, hitting you and paralysing you.

*I look down as you grab me, and look up into your eyes, a quick thought goes through my head, "what's that smi--" but is quickly cut off as a surge of light.ing surrounds you and crackles through my body. As my body paralyses my arms drop, along with all my muscles. As I struggle to keep ny eyes open as now blood is dripping from my chin, I barely can keep my self standing.*

"M-make....it s-stop..." I barely manage to exhale.

 

[Mephistopheles]

*Right after shocking you, I look into your eyes and keep smiling as I see them turn red and one tomoe appears.*

"Congratulations, you now have 1T Sharingan."

*I summon a snake which carries you to the hospital*

"Tell them you've been hit, pierced and electrocuted. Make sure they stop the bleeding before it is too late ^^ Cheers."

*I disappear again*
