If so, it's very convincing nonsense.

Point is, Amaterasu is so very similar in execution to Kamui I find it likely to be some sort of "portal" jutsu as well, and Tsukuyomi unquestionably manipulates time.

Aha, and it makes more sense that Amaterasu is a technique which opens a portal to a realm of black fire to pull the flames out :sy:.
Amaterasu is not classified as a space/time technique in the databook, it was clearly said that Amaterasu is a flame which appears wherever the Sharingan aims for; the flames are converging, as it was said, at the spot the Sharingan sees, instantly. Just stop making these stupid theories.

If they are converging it is strongly implied that the black fire is already there... So the Mangekyou would be concentrating the natural background Amaterasu to the point where it is noticeable?

The idea that the flames are converging from literally nowhere at all seems to me to be a smidge more idiotic than trying to fashion an alternate explanation. An overarching theory, as it were, for the Mangekyou's many completely unrelated abilities.

Don't listen to that muppet, that theory was absolute nonsense.
