Didn't Guy have a summoning ?

In like the beginning didn't he have a turtle summoning ? I wonder why he never used it and probably woulda been weak anyways .or he coulda like used it if like a fire ball was coming to him he could have summoned a big turtle for a shield would been a good defensive move
