Would the blood Hidan used

Would it require the blood to be fresh? Or can it still be old for the jutsu to be performed.

I think he was the ultimate character being immortal all and still can't rap my head around how he beat the 2 tailed beast I believe or 3 tailed and lost to shikimaru.

Requiring only a Persons Blood or could it also be DNA?

Shikamaru is a genius, he had time to understand his jutsu and make a plan. Everyone else who fought him had no idea how his jutsu worked that's why they lost. Come on use common sense kid

erhm... Hidan is so underrated its laughable.. He is strong, but only hes rage blinds him, and shikamaru set that place up which took ages.. Without no preparation hidan vs shika.. hidan wins hands down easily.

I mean hidan was immortal can't people rap there heads around it.
I kinda thought the fight would go like this Hidan is about to win and the lord Jashin gets angry with him or something and takes away his immortality and kills him?

He isn't that much of challenge without Kakuzu to fix his wounds. Of course, being immortal is an awesome power, but he is still vulnerable to incapacitation like anyone. He can't ignore being sliced, beheaded, blown up or have his body incapacitated in any way.
And he didn't show anything other than his curse jutsu which takes a long time to prepare.
However, you raised an interesting question. Hidan's power could be useful if someone else acquires someone's blood, goes back to the base and just ask him to kill the person. The manga never especified any restriction regarding time or distance, but I presume it must be blood.
