So a few weeks back I was asking around for advice on what laptop to get. I finally decided about 2 weeks ago and I got my laptop a few days back. I am very happy with it but pissed off at the guy who built it for me considering he forgot to put the extra 8 gbs of ram in in that I had requested. So he is shipping it out to me and I will soon have 16gbs.
The laptop has a back lite chiclet style keyboard, which I must admit, its taking some time to get used to.

Asus N56VZ
Specifications:
16 gbs of ram
500 gb hard drive at 7200 rpm
15.6 inch screen
i7 3740QM cpu @ 2.7GHz
Killer Wireless-N 1202 (2.4GHz and 5GHz)
Windows 7 Ulitmate
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M; Intel HD Graphics 4000
4 3.0 USB ports

That's something to be proud of :)

But two things, are you going to upgrade to Windows 8 since it was released two days ago?
Why do you need 16Gb of RAM anyway, what are you running?

It cost $1800.
I realy don't have ram to spare.
I am majoring in Uni for CADD/Computer Aided Drafting Design. If anything I should have 8 more gbs of ram so I can run the programs I need smoothly.
i.e. Solid Edge(3D Modeling Software), AutoCadd, Auto Desk Inventor, and others.

No, I don't like the idea of a tablet based OS for a computer and I am not sure if the programs I am running with operate on Windows 8.

I think I suggested you to buy ASUS G75/74 but price tag sadly is too high on it... For this much power you don't even have supportive cooler for system. I bet it will get as hot as surface of the sun.

I'd do 2 modifications

from NVIDIA GeForce GT I'd go for GTX and i7-3740QM @ 2.70GHz is a weekest i7 on the market while i7-3930K @ 3.20GHz would cost little more but much more power :3
