I don't think obito was ruined, It was actually surprising and Kishi letting us know why he joined the bad sad was not bad at all. Looks like madara fooled him and he's using him. I would actually do the same he loved kairi and his friend kakashi killing her was like painful to him so his anger made him act like that. Obito is not a ruined character.

While I don't agree that Obito is necessarily ruined, I do agree that his motive for wanting to put the entire world under his control is somewhat...lame.
I mean, forgoing your village and your friends simply because a girl who probably didn't even like you died...it's kinda lacking.
If for example, he had his entire family slaughtered mercilessly in front of him while he watched and then see their killer escape, then that would be a good reason for revenge. But this...

He just doing what he has to do, kakashi affected his happiness by killing rin and its not his fault he's being used by madara. (Not clearly stated that kakashi really killed her.) Anger can make people do anything.
