It's a shonen manga. OF course they'll be mention of samurai at some point, haha.

Samurai in Naruto are not really that useful in combat... Perhaps only Mifune.

I think the fact that they made Mifune a general means that they recognize them.

Mifune was te only good samurai because he's fought ninja before so he knows how they fight he's quick so yet can't use hand seals. And the fight against Hanzo was rediculous for him being as terrifying as they showed in the past against the Sannin you think he would put up a little better fight
