Do you believe madaras story about awakening renningan at an old age?
If so!! How did he get to nagato without being attached to the gedo?
If so!! Who's eyes are he using right now!? Or during the flashbacks?
Remember this is before the Uchiha clan was taken out.

I think Madara read the sages tablet and discovered that the sages clan was the Uzumaki Clan who is not only related to the Senju but also the Uchiha, prompting him to destroy the Uzumaki clan out of fear & use the kid ( Nagato Uzumaki ) for his own selfish crazy ideals..
