The powers of the sharingan all show varying amounts of similarites and characteristics of the abilities dislpaled by its ancestor the Sage of six paths.

IZANAMI-Made to counter act Izanagi
POWERS OF THE MANGEKYO SHARINGAN
AMATERASU:It is said to represent the "Material World and Light"
TSUKUYOMI:It is said to represent the "Spiritual World and Darkness"
SUSANOO:The third ability granted by the Mangekyō Sharingan to those who awaken the abilities: Tsukuyomi — which symbolises the "darkness of the spiritual world" and Amaterasu — which denotes the "light of the material world"
The Spiritual World and Darkness (Tsukiyomi) combines with the Material World and Light(Amaterasu)a play on and albeit watered down version of the creation of all things.[The process used is explained to have initially involved the administration of imagination,and the spiritual energy to create shape and form]manifesting the spiritual into something psycihcal gigantic, humanoid being. a.k.a Suusano.[The final process of this version of creation of all things comes to fruition when the user obtains the Rinnegan which finally stablizes the chakra of the entity which enacts the final part of creation of all things by mirroring the application of vitality, and the physical energy which forms the basis of Yang chakra, he would breathe life into the prior form.
Noted when the Suusano is displayed to be ethereal at the base of the user but becomes a complete
psychical form when the chakra is stabalized.
The powers unique to each individual that lies beyind the realm of traditional powers provided by the sharingan.Just like each stage of the sharingan unlocks a new power that is attainable to all uchiha if they meet the rewquirments each individual who seems to be able to go through the trauma experienced from the death of the person closest to obtain the mangekyo Sharingan also goes under a personal progression of power outisde of the standard mangakeyo powers that is unique to them and them only.

ITACHI>>> INSCRIPTION: The reason i beleive itachi has the power to inscribe his powers is because he implanted amaterasu in sasukes eye.Another example is when he was shown to have it inside a crow.Now i use the word inscrive because itachi was under kabuto's control still so itachi himself did not activate the eye the crow did which i beleives make it a step up from storage as storage is just a container and merely enacts as a deposit as to where each time itachi has been noted to implant something in another person or animal that have displayed the ability to use it themselves.Which is why i think inscription best explains the situation at hand.Or it could be his advance manipulation of tsukuyomi just as sasuke commandeers more command over amaterasu.
