Why not, instead of having a character fight for my life why not just have Shisui give the order to Madara "Do not kill Vinnie"?

A technique doesn't have to be designed for battle to be used in battle or to stop one from happening, Koto Amatsukami wasn't designed for battle and I certainly wouldn't call it a Battle Technique but it was used against Edo-Itachi and stopped him from battling Naruto the one and only time we saw it.
