I'm pretty sure that's Kurama talking through naruto.

And I think he's saying "Minato placed me inside Naruto so I can protect him."

Remember Minato was thinking long term when he place Kurama inside of Naruto and he even stated that the kyuubi's power would be needed to defeat Tobi.

Therefore Karama is rationalizing the fact that he and Naruto would have to cooperate to defeat Tobi and that'd mean Karama and Naruto would befriend each other, and would protect one another.
