Kabuto wouldn't be able to use Edo if he's fighting someone head up.

The reason I say this is because Kabuto has to control the checker board thingy so that he can make the Edos move. Any moderately fast character would be able to get behind Kabuto and kill him before he could even get the Edos out of the coffins. The only way Kabuto would be able to win is from DSM and Sound 4 Powers and I believe their powers were taken from him.

To people saying Kabuto>NV , that is untrue due to the fact that he cannot use the Edos. Kabuto would barely make Top 15 though.

i agree, plus it also helps kabuto keep track of where and how to use his peices.

He does not control them through the checker board he is using it to calculate his next move he sees them as pawns and he is maneuvering them about on the battle field the checker board is just to help him organize and is there as a symbolic gesture not the actual means to control the dead.Or oro would of had to do the same thing

His moves are also not bound by his words its the tailismen he communicated to the ones he did not have to straight up control because some of them were going to help him out and had no qualms about being brought back like deidara for example my advice for you is too research this stuff up before you make random assumptions
