Why don't a lot of people vote during the election season in the U.S?

From what I understand, there are several problems; first, there's the traditional "my vote doesn't matter, cause it's only one vote out of so many." This is false in itself; what are the final tallies but a vast collection of single votes? Secondly, there's the people who believe (stupidly)that they can send some kind of political statement by not voting. This is absurd, mainly because that's the only way the common man legitimately has a voice in U.S. politics; by voting for people they believe most embody their interests. That's a chunk, though not all reasons; some people are just lazy and don't care. The bottom line, however, is vote. That's the best way to ensure your voice is heard, and that's how we keep our own reigns on the government.

This, and also there are people like me, who dont follow politics at all so voting is literally a waste of time and/or a waste of a vote.

The only vote wasted is the vote not cast.

Of course not voting will convince congress to hand the vote to the public...

To inquire based off of this, are you in favor of a direct vote count as opposed to the electoral college system?

I will never vote because no matter who we vote for, we always get f**ked in the end. Every man or women involved in politics is purely focused on personal gain and not for the well-being of the public as far as I've seen.
